Philo Increases The Price Of Its Starz Add-On

John Finn Avatar

Philo has increased the price of its Starz add-on by $1. With the add-on now priced at $11 a month, the increase matches the general Starz price increase that rolled through recently.

Starz added $1 to the monthly cost of a standalone subscription last week, taking the price up to $10.99 a month. Almost immediately after Starz made the change, a number of third party services, including DirecTV Stream, Fubo, Prime Video, Roku, YouTube and YouTube TV followed suit, increasing the cost of their Starz add-ons to reflect the new price.

Today is the turn of Philo. Anyone now adding the Starz add-on to their monthly base package can expect to pay the new, higher rate of $11. Philo continues to offer a 7-day free trial with Starz, so subscribers are able to test the service out before paying the new monthly price.

Philo subscribers who already subscribe to the Starz add-on can expect to pay the higher price when their next payment is due. For those subscribed to Starz directly, the price increase isn’t expected to affect existing subscribers before September 5, 2024.

Through the introduction of a new Core plan, Philo also increased in price recently. Even though a Core subscription now costs $28 a month, $3 more than before, subscribers also get access to the ad-supported version of AMC+ as part of their plan.

Considering ad-supported AMC+ typically costs $4.99 a month, the new Core package works out to be $2 cheaper each month than subscribing to the old Philo package and a standalone AMC+ subscription.
