Key Takeaways

  • Sling is continuing to promote its $4.99 Day Pass by signing 10 college football players to one-day NIL deals and launching a “Stream Team” sweepstakes offering a free year of Sling TV.
  • The Day Pass and other short-term plans have sparked legal backlash, with lawsuits from Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery challenging the new offerings.
  • Sling is tripling down despite industry pushback, positioning its flexible plans as consumer-friendly and continuing to expand its campaign.

In spite of only launching in August, Sling’s new Day, Week, and Weekend Pass plans have already caused a fair amount of industry distress.

Soon after their arrival, Disney filed a lawsuit claiming the new plans violated its existing agreement with Sling. Even more recently, Warner Bros. Discovery launched its own lawsuit, claiming the same violation.

Following the launch of Disney’s lawsuit, Sling was quick to double down on its Day Plan by explaining how the short-term options are good for the industry.

Now, days after the launch of Warner Bros. Discovery’s lawsuit, Sling has tripled down on Day Pass by launching the “next chapter of the campaign.”

Matching the $4.99 price of Day Pass, Sling today announced 10 college football players have signed one-day Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals for just $4.99.

The 10 college football players include:

Along with the launch of Sling’s Stream Team, Sling has also launched a sweepstakes offering the chance to win one full year of Sling Orange, as well as the “bragging rights as an official 2025 “Stream Team” member.”

This program proves you don’t need to spend big to show up big,” said Seth Van Sickel, Senior Vice President, Sling TV. “We built our new passes to give fans flexibility, and the Stream Team celebrates the same idea. You can still be part of the action without signing your life (or your wallet) away.”
