Cineverse has agreed a deal to distribute a selection of its video content on Spotify. While Spotify is primarily a music platform, it has been slowly getting more involved with video, most notably through the availability of Clips, music videos and podcasts.
Thanks to the new deal, Spotify users can now watch full episodes of select Cineverse programming, including Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, Land of the Lost, Entrepreneur Elevator Pitch, and The FBI Files. This is in addition to comedy specials from Jeff Dunham, Jim Gaffigan, Eddie Griffin, Tiffany Hadish, Kathleen Madigan and Gary Owen.
As the available Cineverse content has already gone live on Spotify, users can search for any of the titles right now and start watching.
“As streaming platforms and device companies continue to expand to provide consumers more and more options to enjoy content where and when they want it, it was natural for us to explore distribution with Spotify,” said Marc Rashba, executive vice president of partnerships at Cineverse. “As we have learned from the success of the Cineverse Podcast Network, Spotify has a massive reach and value, and we are now in a strong first-mover position to take advantage of this new opportunity.”
Considering Spotify is an audio-first platform, some users may find that episodes begin with audio only, depending on their device and settings. If this is the case, simply click the video icon to enable video playback instead. After video playback has been enabled, it should remain enabled after switching to a different episode or show and until manually disabled again.
Although video content doesn’t require a Spotify Premium subscription, free users will need to sign up for a free account to watch any of the Cineverse video content. Alternatively, they can simply listen to any of the videos without signing in.
