Tubi is already home to a varied catalog of rare finds, hidden gems, and somewhat strange titles, and the free streaming service will also soon be temporarily home to a selection of Kickstarter-funded movies.

Over twenty Kickstarter-funded films will be coming to Tubi, thanks to a new deal with the crowdfunding platform. According to the details, the deal is for an exclusive period and will reflect genres that resonate with Tubi fandoms.

The fan-supported films are expected to begin landing on Tubi this fall.

We’re excited to bring Kickstarter creatives and the communities who support them to Tubi’s audience of nearly 100 million viewers,” said Anjali Sud, CEO at Tubi.

In addition to these movies, Tubi also confirmed that it will partner with Kickstarter to pledge directly to ten Kickstarter campaigns to help them meet their funding goals.

Once those movies are completed, they will also be exclusively available to stream on Tubi for the first 3 months.

Together, we’re building a new opportunity for filmmakers to share their work with global audiences and get the visibility they deserve,” said Everette Taylor, Kickstarter’s Chief Executive Officer.

This is not actually the first time that Tubi has made crowd-supported movie overtures. Earlier this year, Tubi launched three brand spots in the form of movie trailers and said it would consider making them into Tubi Originals if they garnered enough support.

Tubi is becoming the home for the next generation of Hollywood talent. Whether we’re bringing crowd-funded films onto the platform, turning a Wattpad novel into a movie or putting the power to green-light in the hands of the fans – we are expanding the pathways for creators to grow their audience and adding greater diversity and differentiation to our content offering,” added Sud.
