Building on the recent addition of AMC Plus app support, Vizio has expanded its partnership with AMC Networks by adding a number of additional free channels to its smart TVs. This is in addition to a varied selection of AMC movies that are also now available to watch on-demand for free.
Previously, AMC agreed a deal with Vizio which made a number of its free, ad-supported channels available on Vizio’s SmartCast platform. The channels added back in 2021 were AMC Presents, Rush by AMC, Slightly Off by IFC, Absolute Reality by WE tv, and IFC Films Picks.
While AMC Presents is no longer available on Vizio TVs and Rush by AMC has been replaced with AMC Thrillers, four AMC FAST channels were still available.
From today, the number of AMC FAST channels has increased to nine thanks to the addition of five new ones. The new AMC channels are Portlandia, MSG Sports Zone, AMC en Espanol, Allblk Gems and Overtime.
In addition to the new FAST channels, Vizio has also added more than 159 AMC movies to the on-demand section of its WatchFree+ service. WatchFree+ is Vizio’s own take on a free streaming service and provides access to a wide range of shows, movies, news, sports, music, and more, at no additional cost to TV owners.
For those with a paid AMC Plus subscription, the app is already available on Vizio smart TVs after having been added late last year. To get started, locate AMC Plus in the app row of the SmartCast home screen and then sign in with the existing subscription details. Those without a subscription can also quickly and easily subscribe directly from the TV’s home screen.
In fact, the process of actually signing up to AMC Plus on a Vizio TV is set to get easier in the future. According to Vizio, users will gain the ability to subscribe, manage their subscription, and redeem special offers using just their Vizio account in the coming months.
