Sesame Workshop and YouTube have teamed up to make it easier for families to watch Sesame Street. In fact, the partnership has now led to YouTube becoming ‘the largest digital library of Sesame Street content‘.
Key Takeaways
- YouTube now hosts the largest digital library of Sesame Street content, with 100+ full episodes available to stream for free.
- The collection includes landmark moments like the first-ever episode, Snuffy is Revealed, and Goodbye Mr. Hooper, along with a large library of Shorts and themed long‑form compilations.
- This deal expands Sesame Street’s streaming footprint, following last year’s Netflix agreement that brought brand‑new episodes to the paid platform.
In total, more than 100 full episodes of Sesame Street are now available to watch for free on YouTube. In addition to the main YouTube app, the same 100+ episodes are also now available to stream through the YouTube TV Kids app.
The 100+ episodes are not from any particular season but consist of classic episodes from older seasons as well as episodes from more recent seasons.
Some of the notable episodes now available to watch for free on YouTube and YouTube Kids include:
- Welcome to Sesame Street: The first-ever episode that aired in 1969 introducing favorite characters like Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Kermit the Frog, and more.
- Snuffy is Revealed: Big Bird finally reveals that his friend Snuffleupagus isn’t imaginary at all!
- Mr. Rogers Visits: It’s a beautiful day on Sesame Street when Fred Rogers comes to visit the neighborhood.
- Maria & Luis Get Engaged: Maria and Luis are in love and decide to get married.
- Goodbye Mr. Hooper: The neighbors of Sesame Street come together after the passing of their friend Mr. Hooper.
Along with all of the full-length episodes now available, the partnership has also resulted in the availability of an expanded library of unique Shorts starring popular Sesame Street Muppets.
This is in addition to other Sesame Street related content, including 1-2 hour long-form compilations that have been thematically curated by topics like ABCs & 123s, STEM, Adventure & Imagination, Friendship & Play, Holidays, and Animals.
The distribution agreement with YouTube follows last year’s agreement with Netflix, which saw the popular streaming service becoming home to a variety of Sesame Street content, including brand new episodes.
