Roku has launched a mobile app in the U.S. for its Howdy streaming service, making it possible for Android and iOS users to access the service and stream content on their mobile devices.

  • Roku has launched a new Howdy mobile app for iOS and Android, and soon after adding Howdy as a Prime Video Channel.
  • The new mobile app provides subscribers with an easy way to watch content when away from their living room devices.
  • Howdy positions itself as a low‑cost, ad‑free streaming service, offering Roku Originals and thousands of titles from major studios for $2.99 per month.

Roku launched its new Howdy streaming service in August of last year. However, and as is often the case with new streaming services, Howdy launched with minimal device support.

In fact, following the launch on Roku, the first expansion of the streaming service only took place last week, when Howdy became available as a Prime Video Channel.

In spite of taking its time in expanding device support for the first time, Roku has now followed up last week’s Prime Video launch with today’s launch of the mobile app in the U.S.

For those interested in giving the mobile experience a try, the Howdy mobile app is now available to download from the App Store on iOS devices, and from Google Play on Android mobile devices.

Launching the Howdy mobile app on iOS and Android enables us to continue growing the service beyond the Roku platform, bringing Howdy’s unique value and quality entertainment to even more viewers,” said Gil Fuchsberg, President of Subscriptions, Partnerships and Corporate Development at Roku.

As a reminder, Howdy is designed to be an affordable streaming service. In addition to Roku Originals, the service also offers access to thousands of titles from a variety of major studios, including Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery, and FilmRise, and for only $2.99 a month.

What’s more, the low monthly price is for a completely ad-free streaming experience.

At a time when most things are getting more expensive, Howdy is designed to make premium, ad-free streaming more affordable and accessible for all viewers,” added Fuchsberg.

Those already subscribed to Howdy, and accessing the service on their living room devices, the new mobile app promises a seamless viewing experience with an easy way to access content across their devices.
