In partnership with ES3, Zone·ify has launched the ability for users to play free interactive games using their existing TV remote. According to the company, it is now the first AVOD platform to offer native gaming without the need for any additional downloads or hardware.

With the feature now live, Zone·ify users can play more than a dozen games using their TV remote. This is only the beginning as well, with the company confirming plans to “rapidly expand its game catalog” over time.

It also looks like the expansion into gaming will prove beneficial to advertisers, with Zone·ify confirming plans to offer custom-branded games for advertisers and sponsors.

We’re not just a streaming service anymore – we’re a full-scale entertainment platform,” said Doug Edwards, President of Zone·ify. “From the viral success of The Border Brawl and our rapidly growing library of content to the launch of TV gaming, we are evolving into a destination for watching, playing, and engaging – all in one place.”

Although no additional hardware is needed to game on Zone·ify, it is worth keeping in mind that support is limited to the streaming service’s compatible devices.

While Zone·ify supports a wide variety of devices in general, gaming has initially launched with support for Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Google TV (including Sony, TCL, and Hisense) connected TVs.

Support is also available to select cable and satellite customers with a compatible device, including Comcast Xfinity, Cox Contour, Buckeye Cable, DirecTV U-verse (U.S.), Rogers Xfinity, and Videotron Helix (Canada) customers.

According to Zone·ify, additional support will be coming to Apple TV, Roku, Samsung, LG, and Vizio devices soon.
