In a move that’s expected to become increasingly common in the streaming industry, Disney has now stopped providing subscriber updates for its Disney+ and Hulu streaming services, including Hulu Live TV.
Key Takeaways
- Disney has stopped reporting subscriber numbers for Disney+, Hulu, and Hulu Live TV, making current subscriber counts unknown.
- The company is shifting its reporting structure, grouping Disney+ and Hulu into a new ‘Entertainment SVOD’ segment.
- This change aligns with Disney’s broader strategy, including phasing out standalone Hulu in favor of a unified Disney+ experience.
As a result of this change, it remains unclear how many subscribers, Disney+, Hulu and Hulu Live TV added in the final three months of 2025, if any.
At the last count, Disney+ ended the third calendar quarter of 2025 (Disney Q4 FY25) with more than 131 million global subscribers. Hulu ended the same quarter with 59.7 million SVOD (basic Hulu) subscribers and 4.4 million Live TV subscribers.
While Disney released its calendar Q4 2025 (Disney Q1 fiscal) results today, the company didn’t provide any updated information on the size of the subscriber base for Disney+, Hulu or Hulu Live TV.
This isn’t a one-off change either, with the company having now opted to no longer provide quarterly updates on its subscriber bases.
Along with this change, Disney is now referring collectively to Disney+ and Hulu (excluding Hulu Live TV) in financial reports as its ‘Entertainment SVOD‘ segment.
The company also didn’t provide any updated subscriber information on this new Entertainment SVOD grouping.
All of this is not totally surprising as the company had previously made clear that it was planning to stop providing subscriber updates during this quarter.
Not to mention, the company is currently in the slow process of phasing out the standalone Hulu experience in favor of an integrated Disney+ experience.
The move also follows Netflix, which stopped providing quarterly subscriber updates early last year. Since then, Netflix has only provided one subscriber update, confirming its global subscriber base has surpassed 325 million subscribers.
