AMC Networks ended the fourth quarter, and 2024 as a whole, with 12.4 million streaming subscribers. The latest subscriber update confirms an increase on the previous quarter and year.
Considering AMC ended the third quarter of 2024 with 11.8 million subscribers, the company managed to add around 600,000 over the final three months of the year. With 11.4 million subscribers reported for the end of 2023, the company also managed to add 1 million throughout the year.
Along with an increase in streaming subscribers, AMC Networks reported $603 million in streaming revenue, a 7% increase on the year before. Streaming revenue for just the fourth quarter increased to $156 million, an increase of 8% on the previous quarter.
AMC Networks pointed to subscriber growth and price increases as the driving forces behind both the quarterly and yearly streaming revenue increases. As a reminder, AMC+ increased in price at the end of 2024, taking the cost of an ad-supported subscription up to $6.99 a month and the cost of an ad-free subscription up to $9.99 a month.
In spite of the increase in streaming revenue, AMC Networks confirmed a decline in total subscription revenue, down 5% on the year before. In explaining the decline, AMC Networks pointed to a drop in linear subscribers.
As one of its 2024 highlights, AMC Networks noted how its FAST portfolio continued to expend last year. The company now operates a total of 19 live FAST channel brands across 12 different platforms.
