AMC+ has become the latest streaming service to increase in price. The change took effect today for those signing up to the service as a new subscriber, and applies to both (ad-supported and ad-free) tiers.
Beginning today, new subscribers now pay $6.99 a month for the ad-supported plan, resulting in a $2 monthly price increase. New ad-free subscribers now pay $9.99 a month for their plan, resulting in a $1 monthly price increase.
Along with the monthly plans, the ad-free annual plan has also now increased in price. At $95.88 for the year, annual subscribers now pay $12 more than they did before.
In explaining the price increase, AMC says the new rates help “to continue delivering a collection of world-class originals, award-winning series, and exclusive movies from AMC, Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited.”
It is not just new subscribers that are affected by the price increase. Those with an existing subscription, whether it is for the ad-supported or ad-free tier, can also now expect the cost of their plan to increase to the new rate as well.
As is typically the case with streaming service price increases, the exact date a subscriber’s plan increases depends on their individual billing cycle. However, no existing subscriber will see their price increase before January 15, 2025.
AMC+ joins a growing number of streaming services that have increased in price this year. The list of subscription services that have already upped the price in 2024 include Acorn TV, Crunchyroll, Disney+, Hulu, Max, MGM+, Paramount+, Peacock, and Starz.
