AMC+ is in the process of making some changes to its user experience and one of the more notable from the subscriber perspective is a removal of content. Specifically, removal of what seems like a considerable chunk of the Shudder and Sundance Now libraries.
What You Need to Know
- AMC+ is removing a large portion of movies and shows from Shudder and Sundance Now.
- Only a limited selection of Shudder and Sundance Now titles will remain on AMC+ after November 18, 2026.
- Annual members will continue to have full catalog access until their current billing term ends.
Access to the Shudder library has always been one of the additional benefits of an AMC+ subscription. Although there are some differences (for example, AMC+ subscribers don’t get access to Shudder’s live channels), generally speaking, an AMC+ subscription is largely the same as having a Shudder subscription, albeit with access to all the extra AMC+ content.
That now appears to be in the process of changing. AMC+ has begun emailing existing subscribers to let them know of the change. Streaming Better has received the email, confirming that only “a curated selection” of the Shudder and Sundance Now libraries will remain available on AMC+.
This change is due to take effect on November 18, 2026.
The email goes on to confirm that “full catalog” access will exclusively be available through each service’s respective platform from this date.
“You will also see changes to content from Shudder and Sundance Now. Beginning on November 18, 2026, a curated selection of Shudder’s spine-tingling thrillers and Sundance Now’s independent film library will remain available on AMC+, with the full catalog for each service exclusively available on their respective home platforms,” AMC+ stated in its email to subscribers.
AMC+ says it is making this change to offer users a more curated experience, and one which targets the users of each service.
“With so many new stories coming to AMC+ in the months ahead, we believe this curated approach makes it quick and easy to find your favorites, while still giving you access to great selections from Shudder and Sundance Now,” the email continues.
While this means existing AMC+ subscribers will lose access to what could be a significant portion of the Shudder and Sundance Now catalogs, the one exception here is annual plan subscribers.
Technically, annual AMC+ subscribers will still lose access to the same content, but they won’t lose access before their current annual billing cycle concludes.
For example, subscribers who signed up during AMC+’s recent annual plan sale shouldn’t lose access to the additional Shudder and Sundance Now libraries before their annual plan renews next year.
“As an existing AMC+ Annual Plan subscriber, you’ll continue to have access to all Shudder content at no additional cost through the end of your current annual term. You can cancel your subscription at any time,” the email reads.
For those on a monthly plan, and primarily signed up to AMC+ for access to Shudder, it might be worth considering switching to a standalone Shudder subscription over the next few weeks to ensure continued access to the service’s full library.
