What You Need to Know

  • Canela Media will debut Zully this fall, a vertical, mobile‑first app offering short‑form drama content.
  • The new app will feature a wide variety of content, including AI‑powered and live‑action originals.
  • Zully will target younger, drama‑loving viewers with English, Spanish, and Spanglish content.

Due to launch in the fall, Canela Media‘s new Zully app will feature a variety of short-from content, including a blend of AI-powered and live-action originals.

With Zully being a micro-series app, it should come as no surprise that it is designed with mobile devices and users in mind.

This also means it will sport a vertical streaming experience, making it even easier to discover, share, and binge-watch content on mobile devices.

The new app will also look to appeal to diverse audiences by providing access to content in English, Spanish, and Spanglish.

Zully is a natural extension of everything we’ve built at Canela Media over the past seven years,” said Isabel Rafferty-Zavala, CEO and Co-Founder of Canela Media.

From the brand and advertiser perspective, Canela says the app will also offer a variety of new advertising and branding opportunities, including custom micro-series and integrated ad solutions.

We’ve spent years deeply understanding how audiences express culture, move across platforms, and connect with stories, insights rooted in our leadership in the U.S. Hispanic market, where younger, diverse viewers are shaping what drama looks like for everyone. Zully is backed by that experience, combining our storytelling knowhow, audience intelligence, and advanced AI workflows for content creation and distribution scale to introduce a new platform that will bring innovation to how micro-series are developed and served to today’s drama lovers,” added Rafferty-Zavala.

Along with announcing Zully, Canela Media also confirmed its reach now includes more than 60 million monthly active users, a 97% year-over-year increase. This is in addition to an 80% year-over-year increase in time spent watching.
