Comcast has announced the distribution of a new free streaming service called The Network. Launched by John Leguizamo, The Network is committed to providing high quality programming to diverse audiences.
The completely free service is now available across the company’s various platforms and devices, including Xfinity X1, Flex, Xumo Stream Box, and Xumo TV. The Network can also be accessed directly through the streaming service’s website. Even though this is a free streaming service, users will need to sign up for a free account.
In terms of content, Comcast says The Network will release a “tightly selected number of premium originals.” The first of which is The Green Veil, an eight-episode drama/thriller/sci-fi series executive produced and starring Leguizamo in his first leading role.
With the launch also coinciding with National Hispanic Heritage Month, Xfinity customers can stream The Green Veil without ads through October 15th.
“This Hispanic Heritage Month, I am so incredibly proud to be partnering with Comcast to deliver free premium content from my new streaming platform The Network,” said Leguizamo. “It’s especially meaningful during this month, which highlights the achievements and subject matter across a range of issues within the community and beyond!“
Non-Xfinity customers can still watch the new series on The Network, although they will have to sit through the ad breaks. As this is a free, ad-supported streaming service, there is no option to pay to upgrade to an ad-free experience.
The arrival of The Network follows the launch of Comcast’s new Now TV Latino package in July. Now TV Latino brings together more than 25 Spanish-language channels (and Peacock) for just $10 a month.
