If you’re a DirecTV customer or DirecTV Stream subscriber then you can now claim a $20 refund over the lost Disney channels. This follows a dispute which led to ABC, ESPN and other channels owned by Disney being dropped from all DirecTV and DirecTV Stream packages.
To redeem the refund, affected customers need to head over to this webpage and enter their email address. So long as the email address is associated with an active DirecTV or DirecTV Stream subscription, they should be eligible for the refund.
The $20 is a one-off refund so subscribers should be aware that the credit will only apply to one billing cycle, although some may find the $20 is applied over the course of two billing cycles.
For reference, customers do need to maintain their subscription until the credit is applied to get the credit, as canceling earlier will result in the loss of the credit. Customers can also expect to continue to be billed each month at their usual rate (without any discount) after the credit has been applied.
As this is an active dispute, it currently remains unclear just how long it will last. If the two companies are able to come to some form of an agreement in the next few weeks that results in the return of the channels, then a one-off refund might be enough for a single billing cycle without access to the channels.
If, however, the dispute turns into a long-term dispute, impacted customers may want to consider an alternative live TV streaming service to maintain access to ABC, ESPN and the other affected Disney-owned channels.
