DirecTV and Paramount Global have agreed a deal that allows DirecTV to include a number of Paramount’s channels in its Genre Packs.
The benefits of the deal take effect immediately, with subscribers to the various Genre Packs now gaining access to additional sports, news and entertainment channels.
Thanks to the new agreement, the $69.99/month MySports Genre Pack has now gained 15 CBS-owned and operated stations as well as CBS Sports Network. Likewise, the $34.99/month MyEntertainment Genre Pack now includes BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, POP, TV Land, and VH1.
Beginning tomorrow, the $39.99/month MyNews Genre Pack will gain access to CBS-owned and operated stations, while the $34.99/month MiEspañol Genre Pack will gain access to Tr3s.
Also beginning tomorrow, subscribers to the MyCinema Mini Pack Add-On will gain access to the Smithsonian Channel.
“Paramount is one of the world’s most influential programmers, and its broad portfolio – including the CBS Network local stations – provides essential channels to many of our different Genre Packs. Together, these combined services create a strong foundation for a more dynamic TV future, one that gives DirecTV subscribers enhanced choice and control through our industry-leading genre-based options,” said Rob Thun, Chief Content Officer at DirecTV.
Along with the expansion of all of these Genre Packs, the agreement has also led to the launch of a new MyKids Genre Pack. Priced at $19.99 a month, MyKids provides access to a variety of family-first channels from Disney, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, as well as the Disney+ streaming service.
“DirecTV is a valued partner, and we are pleased to expand our long-standing relationship by featuring our wide array of leading programming in DirecTV’s growing portfolio of Genre Packs,” said Ray Hopkins, President of Paramount U.S. Distribution.
