DirecTV is adding a new ‘Lionsgate Collection’ FAST channel. Described as a “first-of-its-kind collaboration,” the channel is being added in partnership with Lionsgate.
Due to launch in the coming weeks, the new Lionsgate Collection channel will be available to all DirecTV customers, and across the company’s full suite of satellite and streaming products.
In a bid to offer more of a unique and custom experience to DirecTV users, the new FAST channel will be programmed by Lionsgate. Once available, DirecTV customers can expect access to a curated collection of movies and series from the Lionsgate’s film and television library.
“Lionsgate is a powerhouse of bold storytelling and unforgettable entertainment, and this is a unique opportunity to work together on an exclusive curated channel that highlights the best titles in their vast collection,” said Amy Leifer, chief advertising sales officer at DirecTV.
As this is a FAST-based channel, it will also be available via DirecTV’s free streaming service, MyFree DirecTV.
“We’re pleased to join with DirecTV in a first-of-its-kind partnership to launch Lionsgate Collection, a proprietary channel drawing upon our vast film & television library to deliver premium content across DirecTV’s entire suite of platforms,” said Jim Packer, President of Lionsgate’s Worldwide Television Distribution Group. “
This is only the latest example of the partnership between these two companies. Last month, for example, DirecTV added Lionsgate’s 50 Cent Action channel to its MyFree DirecTV lineup, and this followed the addition of five Lionsgate FAST channels in July of last year.
