DirecTV appears to have started testing new ‘Mix’ multiview channels, offering customers the ability to watch more than one similar channel at the same time.
Technically, DirecTV already offers multiview functionality to satellite customers, and recently began testing multiview for streaming customers. At the end of 2024, multiview became available to streaming customers as a way for them to keep up to date with the latest election news.
However, soon after the election ended, the channels were removed again.
This time around, DirecTV has started testing out the following five new ‘Mix’ multiview channels.
- News Mix (Ch. 910)
- Business Mix (Ch. 912)
- Kids Mix (Ch. 915)
- Sports Mix (Ch. 920)
- League Sports Mix (Ch. 921)
For those interested in checking any of these new Mix channels out, they are currently only confirmed to be available on DirecTV’s own Gemini and Gemini Air devices. It is currently unclear if and when they will roll out to other platforms, including Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, and Roku.
It also remains unclear whether these will be permanent additions or whether they’ll only be available for a limited time as part of another test of the feature.
As of right now, we are seeing reports that the channels have disappeared again. So for those that do find they have access to the Mix channels in the guide, it is unclear how long those users will continue to have access to them.
