Disney+ has added another four live streams, offering subscribers more ways to tune in and watch select live programming. The new channels follow the addition of the ABC News Live and Disney Junior (now confirmed to be Disney+ Playtime) live channels, both of which were added early last month.
The new channels added this week include:
- Hallowstream (for Halloween)
- Hits & Heroes (action-packed stories from marquee brands and franchises, including Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars)
- Throwbacks (nostalgic pop culture content)
- Real Life (documentaries, biopics, and true stories)
Based on Disney’s original ‘continuous playlists’ announcement, Hits & Heroes, Throwbacks, and Real Life are expected to be mostly permanent additions, while Hallowstream is likely to be a temporary channel that’s only accessible over the Halloween period.
According to Disney, these latest streams are now available to Disney+ Premium subscribers, and only available to subscribers based in the U.S. The latest channels can be found advertised throughout the Home screen, as well as in a dedicated ‘Streams‘ row on the Home screen.
As these channels contain various titles, viewers should expect content ratings to vary by title as well. With Disney+ Playtime specifically aimed at younger viewers, Disney says this channel only features programming with a highest content rating of TV-G.
On a more general note, the move towards live content seems to be paying off. According to Disney, the Disney+ Playtime and ABC News channels have already been streamed for more than 10 million hours by subscribers in the U.S.
