Delta and The Walt Disney Company have teamed up to offer a selection of Disney+ inflight movies on Delta flights. In addition, Delta U.S. SkyMiles members are being offered an extended free trial to Disney’s streaming service.

Disney+ launched in the U.S. on November 12 and in spite of still being a new service it is proving to be a major player. Disney+ attracted almost 2 million subscribers via pre-orders and ten million subscribers within the first 24 hours of launch. The number is expected to have climbed even more since then.

Capitalizing on this momentum, Delta has now announced a deal that adds a selection of Disney+ content to its flights for free. Delta has not specified which flights the Disney content is available on, although does state its “Delta Studio” in-flight entertainment system is operational on more than 700 of its aircraft.

Delta has also not specified exactly how much Disney content is available although it has highlighted some of the movies that are now showing. Here are those highlights:

  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Captain Marvel
  • Coco
  • Finding Nemo
  • Free Solo
  • Frozen
  • The Little Mermaid
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • The Parent Trap
  • Remember the Titans
  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  • Toy Story 3
  • Up

Again, this is not the totality of the Disney content with Delta stating other “Disney library titles are available within the movies and TV series page” of the in-flight entertainment system. This adds to the “more than 3,000 movies, TV shows and music options” Delta says it already offers fliers through Delta Studio.

Delta offering extended Disney+ free trial

In addition to the free-of-charge access to Disney+ titles while in flight, Delta says it is now offering Delta U.S. SkyMiles members, as well as “travelers flying on selected routes” the option to sign up for a 14-day free Disney+ trial. Considering Disney itself only offers a 7-day free trial, this is an extended opportunity to test out Disney’s new streaming service before having to pay.

For those who do decide to stay with the service beyond the free trial, Disney+ costs $6.99 per month. In return it provides access to a wide selection of Disney-owned content including Marvel, Star Wars Pixar, and National Geographic titles.

Disney+ can also be purchased as a bundle along with Hulu and ESPN+ for $12.99 per month. Those already subscribed to either Hulu or ESPN+ can also take advantage of the reduced bundle price without actually having to cancel their existing subscription.
