Hulu ended the most recent quarter with 4.6 million Live TV subscribers. The calendar fourth quarter (Disney Q1 FY25) update confirms no change to the size of the subscriber base during the final three months of the year (as of Dec. 28, 2024).

During the previous calendar quarter (fiscal Q4 2024), Hulu Live TV managed to add around 200,000 subscribers. With no change in the most recent quarter, the live TV streaming service only added around 200,000 subscribers in the second half of the year.

On a year-over-year basis, the latest subscriber update also confirmed no overall change. Considering Hulu ended 2023 with 4.6 million live TV subscribers, Hulu’s live TV service only managed to replenish the subscribers it lost during the first half of 2024.

As a reminder, the cost of a Hulu Live TV subscription increased to $82.99 a month in October of last year. It is possible that this price increase contributed to the lack of subscriber additions during the most recent quarter.

Looking at the service as a whole and Hulu continues to grow its subscriber footprint. After closing out the third calendar quarter of 2024 with 47.4 million basic (SVOD) subscribers, Disney confirmed the streaming service ended 2024 with 49 million subscribers, resulting in an increase of 1.6 million.

With 46.7 million reported at the end of the second calendar quarter, Hulu added around 2.3 million SVOD subscribers during the second half of 2024.

Again, on a year-over-year basis, the 49 million confirms an increase of 3.9 million SVOD subscribers over the past 12 months. Disney reported a total of 45.1 million subscribers for the end of the fourth quarter of last year.

In total, the number of SVOD and Live TV subscribers climbed to 53.6 million. This marks an increase of 1.6 million on the 52 million subscribers reported for the end of calendar Q3 2024.

On a year-over-year basis, the 53.6 million also resulted in an increase of 3.9 million on the 49.7 million reported for the fourth calendar quarter of 2023.
