Hulu Live TV ended the third calendar quarter of 2024 (fiscal Q4 2024) with 4.6 million subscribers. Although an increase on the previous quarter, the latest subscriber update confirms no change on a year-over-year basis.

Considering Hulu Live TV closed out the previous quarter with 4.4 million subscribers, the live TV service managed to add around 200,000 subscribers between July and September 2024.

However, as Hulu ended the third calendar quarter of last year (and 2023 as a whole) with 4.6 million live TV subscribers, Hulu Live TV has only managed to regain the number of subscribers it lost during the first half of 2024.

Hulu also closed out the most recent quarter with 47.4 million basic (SVOD) subscribers. With 46.7 million reported for the quarter before, Hulu added roughly 700,000 subscribers during the three-month period. On a year-over-year basis, Hulu ended calendar Q3 2023 with 43.9 million SVOD subscribers, resulting in an increase of 3.5 million subscribers over the past 12 months.

When combining basic and live TV subscribers, Hulu ended calendar Q3 2024 with 52 million subscribers. This represented an increase of 900,000 on the 51.1 million reported for the second calendar quarter of this year and an increase of 3.5 million on the 48.5 million reported for the third calendar quarter of last year.

For reference, the cost of a Hulu Live TV subscription increased to $82.99 a month in October, so it is possible Hulu may see another drop in live TV subscribers during the current quarter.

It is also possible that a recent promotion may have shielded Hulu from any notable live TV subscriber decline during the current quarter. Ever since the price increase took effect, Hulu has been offering new subscribers the option to sign up at $59.99 a month for the first three months.
