Max has added a new OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network hub for subscribers based in the US. The new hub option joins a number of other brand-specific sections within the Max app.
When Max launched, it not only replaced HBO Max, but it also resulted in a large amount of Discovery Plus content being added as well. As a result, the variety of content available to stream through the subscription service increased greatly.
To help subscribers narrow down the list to content they are most interested in watching, Max launched with a Brand Spotlight section. Here, subscribers could find shortcuts to a variety of themed hub sections, including HBO, Max Originals, Discovery, Adult Swim, Food Network, and so on.
Starting today, a new OWN hub option has been added to that Brand Spotlight row to provide subscribers with a shortcut to access their favorite OWN content, including Love & Marriage, Ready to Love, Put A Ring On It, and Belle Collective, among many other titles.
“Our mission at OWN is to deliver programming that serves the female Black viewer, and this cross-portfolio collaboration presents a terrific opportunity to expand on that mission,” said Tina Perry, President of OWN. “OWN’s premium content will not only be available to our current fans, but it will also be available to a whole new audience that can easily access our programming with this dedicated hub.”
In addition to the shows, movies, and other OWN content listed within the new OWN hub, subscribers will also find additional content suggestions based on related themes, such as Black Voices and More Picks for OWN Fans. In explaining the difference, these themed collections might not include OWN content, but might appeal to fans of OWN content.
According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the Black Voices collection currently includes Abbott Elementary, The Boondocks, Euphoria, Insecure, Steven Universe, and Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, among other titles.
For those interested in seeing everything the new OWN hub on Max has to offer, simply navigate to the Brand Spotlight row in the app or on the website, and then click on the OWN shortcut.
