What You Need to Know

  • The Nashville Predators have partnered with ViewLift to launch a direct-to-consumer streaming service.
  • The new platform will offer live, locally-carried games, replays, and original content.
  • The streaming service won’t impact the team’s current over-the-air broadcast deal with Scripps Sports.

The Nashville Predators have partnered with ViewLift to launch the new direct-to-consumer streaming service.

Acquired by DAZN earlier this month, ViewLift has already partnered with a variety of teams and leagues to launch similar DTC services, including the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Washington Capitals.

Nashville is a hockey town with one of the most engaged fan bases in the league, and this alliance reflects that,” said Rick Allen, CEO of ViewLift. “We’re proud to become the Predators’ streaming partner, giving fans in this market full coverage of the team, no matter how they choose to watch. And we’re delighted to be working with Scripps Sports on this, our fourth NHL team joint distribution.”

Although ViewLift has confirmed the service will launch in time for the upcoming hockey season, the exact launch date and pricing have yet to be announced.

Once available, the new streaming platform will provide Predators fans across Tennessee and beyond with access to every locally-carried game during the NHL season.

This is also in addition to a variety of additional content, including on-demand replays, highlights, and original programming.

The new service is also set to arrive with a good level of device support. At launch, fans will be able to watch on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku devices, as well as on Android and iOS mobile devices, and via the website.

For those without access to a supported device, ViewLift has confirmed additional platforms are due to gain support at a later time.

This new streaming service will give our fans a direct connection to the team, on their terms,” said Bill Wickett, EVP and CMO of the Nashville Predators. “Smashville is one of the most passionate fan bases in the league, and they deserve the flexibility to watch anytime, anywhere, on whatever device they use most. This is just one more way we’re investing in how we connect with our fans.”

The launch of the new streaming service is not expected to affect the Predators’ existing broadcast partnership with Scripps Sports, which includes the airing of Preds games on The Spot – Nashville 28 station this season.
