Netflix closed out the first quarter of 2024 with 269.6 million subscribers, resulting in an increase of 9.3 million during the first three months of the year. The figure also represents a significant year-over-year increase on the 232.5 million reported for the end of the first quarter of 2023.
Netflix’s total of 269.6 million subscribers for Q1 2024 are in relation to the streaming service’s total global subscriber base. If just looking at the UCAN market, Netflix closed out the most recent quarter with 82.66 million. This represents an increase of more than 8 million on the 74.4 million reported for the first quarter of the year before. The 82.66 million subscribers in the United States and Canada also represents an increase of around 2.5 million on the 80.13 million reported at the close of 2023.
In other areas, Netflix added a similar number of subscribers over the past three months. For example, 2.92 million subscribers were added in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), up from 88.81 million to 91.73 million. Netflix also added 1.72 million subscribers in Latin America (LATAM), up from 46 million to 47.72 million. The company also added 2.16 million subscribers in Asia–Pacific (APAC), up from 45.34 million to 47.5 million.
In terms of how all this translated into revenue, Netflix generated $9.37 billion in the first quarter of 2024. This represents an increase on the $8.83 billion reported for the fourth quarter of 2023, and an increase on the $8.16 billion reported for the first quarter of 2023.
