Redbox owner, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, recently announced a “first-of-its-kind viewer reward program across its entire streaming ecosystem.” Basically, a program that rewards users for watching content regardless of whether they are watching on Redbox, Crackle, or Chicken Soup for the Soul.

In its latest rewards-based move, the 40 million existing Redbox Perks members are now able to get rewarded for any rentals or purchases they make through the Redbox website or the Redbox app. These points can then be exchanged for discounts on digital rentals or purchases, or for free rentals at a Redbox kiosk.

With digital videos now included in the rewards program, members will earn 300 points each time they rent or buy a video under $10 and 500 points when they rent or buy a video over $10. Members can then exchange 1,000 points for a $1 discount, 2,500 points for a $2 discount, or 4,000 points for a $3 discount.

For those new to the program, Redbox is also now offering an additional incentive to join. After signing up, new members can choose between a free one-night rental at a Redbox kiosk or $2 off a movie rental through the Redbox app.

This expansion of our Perks program gives our customers even more opportunities to redeem for their next rental,” said Maura Gray, senior vice president of marketing for Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment. “We have consistently heard from our members their eagerness to engage more with Redbox and enjoy the ability to redeem points physically and digitally. We’re thrilled to provide our customers more value and reward them even more for watching movies with us.
