Roku Sunday Leadoff

Users of a Roku device or The Roku Channel app will now be able to tune in and watch free baseball every Sunday. The first ‘Roku MLB Sunday Leadoff’ game takes place this Sunday (May 19) at 1:05 p.m. ET, when the Boston Red Sox take on the St. Louis Cardinals.

Rumors of a potential partnership between Roku and the MLB have been circulating for a couple of weeks now. However, nothing had been confirmed, with the suggestion being that talks were ongoing (per The Athletic) and that Roku had emerged as the likely candidate to take over MLB Sunday Leadoff from Peacock.

While still not officially confirmed, it looks like MLB has confirmed the change in streaming location. A blog post briefly went live this morning on the MLB website confirming the launch of Roku MLB Sunday Leadoff on May 19. Although the blog post has since been removed, it seems only a matter of time (probably hours) before Roku makes the news official.

According to the details, the new deal won’t affect MLB.TV subscribers, with games available to stream on both platforms, and without any blackouts. For those with a Roku device, MLB Sunday Leadoff games can be accessed every Sunday morning in the Sports section of the Home screen.

For those without a Roku device, MLB Sunday Leadoff games can be watched through The Roku Channel app on a number of supported devices and platforms, including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV (including Google TV) and Samsung smart TVs. For those without a supported device, Sunday Morning Leadoff can also be watched each week through The Roku Channel website.

In addition to the live streams, it will also be possible for users of a Roku device and The Roku Channel app to watch a full replay of each Sunday morning game six hours after the game ends.
