While the Roku Ultra was already Roku‘s most powerful device, a newer 2024 version looks to provide homes with an even more powerful player and a smarter streaming experience in general.

Starting at $99.99, the same price as the original model, the new version is immediately available to buy in the U.S. (and Canada) from Roku. According to the company, the new model will be available to buy from other major retailers in the coming weeks.

The 2024 Roku Ultra is the fastest Roku streaming player ever. The Roku Ultra comes powered by Roku OS and includes a Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition).

Arguably the two most notable upgrades with the Roku Ultra (2024) are the faster processor and the new remote.

In terms of the processor, this is the first time the Roku Ultra has arrived with a new processor inside, making this more of a notable upgrade than the difference between the 2022 Roku Ultra and previous versions. The company says the all-new quad core processor results in its fastest streaming player ever, with access to unmatched cinematic picture and sound.

In terms of the remote, the 2024 Roku Ultra comes bundled with the Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition).

Typically $29.99 on its own, the newer remote boasts a longer-lasting rechargeable battery, touch-activated backlit buttons, hands-free controls, quick launch shortcuts, and the ability to be found using voice commands when lost.

Some of the other notable new features and improvements include Wi-Fi 6 and a smarter user experience. The latter of which includes the use of machine learning to predict the app you are most likely to use next to ensure a quicker loading experience.

The timing of the release of the new Roku Ultra is interesting considering the new Google TV Streamer also became available to buy today. With the Google TV Streamer also priced at $99.99, it now looks like these new streaming players are set to directly compete with each other.
