The Google TV Streamer is now available to buy online and in store. The latest Google TV device was announced last month and has been available to pre-order since then. Beginning today, it is now generally available everywhere.
As a reminder, the Google TV Streamer costs $99.99 and marks a major design departure from the Chromecast with Google TV lineup. Unlike the Chromecast models, the Google TV Streamer isn’t a dongle-based device. Instead, it is designed to sit near the television.

Powered by Google TV, the Google TV Streamer lets you see movies and TV shows from all your services on the home screen. It also offers access to a selection of FAST channels.
In addition to the design, the Google TV Streamer is intended to be a more powerful streaming player in general. The new player not only comes with more memory and storage, but a faster processor as well.
The remote has also been upgraded. While still in the style of the Chromecast remote, the new version is slightly longer and the buttons are configured slightly differently. It also contains a new ‘Magic’ button that allows the user to set a custom purpose, such as opening a specific app or initiating a smart home command.
Speaking of smart homes, that’s the other big selling point with the new device, as the Google TV Streamer is part Home hub. While there’s no display, it can turn a television into a smart home hub, making it easier to control other smart home devices and see who is at the door.
For those with a Chromecast with Google TV and not considering upgrading to the new player, Google has started rolling out a number of feature upgrades to existing Chromecast models, including the availability of the same Home panel feature found on the new Google TV Streamer.
