Sling TV closed out 2024 with 2.09 million subscribers. The update confirms a slight decrease following a slight increase in subscribers during the previous quarter.

Considering Sling TV ended the third quarter of 2024 with 2.14 million subscribers, the live TV service lost around 50,000 subscribers during the final three months of the year. However, with 2 million reported for the end of the second quarter, Sling managed to add around 90,000 subscribers in the second half of the year.

On a year-over-year basis, Sling TV ended 2023 with approximately 2.06 million subscribers. As a result, the latest results confirm an increase of 30,000 over 12 months.

This slight increase on a yearly basis and decrease on a quarterly basis is a good representation of Sling TV in general in recent years, as the live TV service continually seems to add and lose subscribers on a regular basis, resulting in very little overall change to its subscriber base.

EchoStar also reported a total of 5.69 million Dish TV subscribers for the end of 2024. As Dish TV ended the previous quarter with 5.89 million subscribers, the service lost around 200,000 subscribers during the final three months of 2024. With 6.47 million reported for the end of 2023, Dish TV lost 780,000 in total over the last calendar year.

When taking into considering both Sling TV and Dish TV, EchoStar reported a total of 7.78 million Pay-TV subscribers for the end of 2024, a decline of 253,000 on the previous quarter, and a decline of around 750,000 when compared to the 8.53 million Pay-TV subscribers reported at the start of 2024.

In explaining the subscriber declines, EchoStar pointed to the company’s “emphasis on acquiring higher-quality subscribers.”
