For Whovians looking to stream as many episodes of Doctor Who as possible, and without ads, three subscriptions are currently required. While Disney+ provides access to the very newest episodes of Doctor Who, every episode of season 1 through 13 requires a Max subscription. Lastly, a BritBox subscription unlocks ad-free access to every episode of season 1-26 of Classic Doctor Who.

If you don’t mind watching with ads, Tubi also offers access to Classic Doctor Who episodes for free, removing the need to pay for a BritBox subscription.

Doctor Who likely needs little introduction. It is an extremely popular show and one that has been around for a considerably long time. The original Doctor Who was canceled in the 1980s after its 26th season but then returned in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor. Since then, new Doctor Who episodes have continually been released on an almost yearly basis. Season 14, with the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa), premiered on May 10, 2024.

The very latest episodes of Doctor Who are available to watch outside the UK with a Disney+ subscription. New episodes are released weekly and are available to watch on Disney+ the same time they premiere on BBC in the UK.

If you don’t currently have access to Disney+, an ad-supported subscription costs $7.99 a month (or $9.99 a month when bundled with Hulu). If you’d rather remove the ads, Disney+ costs $13.99 a month (or $19.99 when bundled with Hulu).

Max is the current U.S. streaming home for every episode of season 1-13 of Doctor Who, and the cheapest Max tier costs $9.99 a month. Once again, if an ad-free subscription is preferred, Max costs a minimum of $16.99 a month. Max doesn’t currently offer a free trial, so new subscribers will need to pay the full monthly amount when signing up.

There is also the option to sign up for an annual plan to help save on the cost over 12 months. The ad-supported annual plan costs $99.99 a year, while the annual ad-free plan costs a minimum of $169.99 a year.

Where to watch Classic Doctor Who (Season 1-26)

Classic Doctor Who

If you want to watch Classic Doctor Who episodes (the First Doctor through to the Seventh), there are a few options available. If you want to watch without ads, all 26 seasons of Classic Doctor Who can be streamed on BritBox in the United States, making a subscription a good option for fans of the 1963-1989 show.

A standard BritBox subscription costs $8.99 per month. For those wanting to pay more up front to save on the cost over a year, the annual plan costs $89.99 a year. Regardless of whether signing up on a monthly or annual basis, a 7-day free trial is available.

For reference, Tubi is also home to a Classic Doctor Who FAST channel, which continually plays episodes on a loop to offer more of a traditional TV viewing experience. While Pluto TV also offers a Classic Doctor Who FAST channel, the free streaming service doesn’t currently have any on-demand episodes available.
