Streaming hit another all-time high in June 2025. According to the latest The Gauge data, Streaming accounted for 46% of total TV usage last month, notably up from the 44.8% reported by Nielsen for May 2025.
Considering May’s total was already a record high for the category, as were the three months before, June marked the fifth month in a row that Streaming hit an all-time high.
In contrast to Streaming, Cable saw its total TV share drop from 24.1% in May to 23.4% in June. Similarly, Broadcast dropped from 20.1% in May to 18.5% in June 2025.
YouTube Marches On, Netflix Bounces Back
Like Streaming, YouTube also continues to surge, marking another all-time high for the platform. According to the latest data, YouTube’s share in June totaled 12.8%, up from 12.5% in May and 12.4% in April.
After dropping over the past few months, Netflix saw its share grow, increasing from 7.5% in May to 8.3% in June. Likewise, Prime Video’s share climbed from 3.5% to 3.6%, and Peacock’s share increased from 1.4% to 1.5%.
It wasn’t all good news for every streaming service. Disney (Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu) saw its share decrease from 5% to 4.8%, Warner/Discovery (HBO Max and Discovery+) saw its share decrease from 1.5% to 1.4%, and Paramount Streaming (Paramount+ and Pluto TV) saw its share decrease from 2.2% to 2%.
No Major Changes For Free Services
Over the past year, free streaming services have continually seen their share increase, but that wasn’t the case in June 2025. To be clear, there was no drop either, with the main free services seeing no major change last month.
For example, The Roku Channel’s share came in at 2.5%, exactly the same as in May. Identically, Tubi share totaled 2.2% in June, the same as it was in May 2025.
