10 Local Now FAST channels are now available on The Roku Channel, unlocking access to local news, weather, traffic, sports and lifestyle content in specific cities.

For those unfamiliar with Local Now, the service brings together technologists and journalists to provide residents with 24/7 programming that’s specifically designed to reflect the interests and needs of their local community. As an added benefit, Local Now FAST channels also include curated content from various local news partners, including ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.

The 10 Local Now channels that have now gone live on The Roku Channel include:

  • Birmingham – Anniston – Tuscaloosa, Alabama
  • Columbus, Ohio
  • Greenville – Spartanburg – Asheville – Anderson, The Carolinas
  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Kansas City, Missouri
  • Louisville, Kentucky
  • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Memphis, Tennessee
  • New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Salt Lake City, Utah

The Roku Channel has continually gained in popularity with Roku claiming it is now a top three app on the Roku platform. As a result, the launch of these Local Now FAST channels on The Roku Channel is likely to provide many more users with another option for accessing local news, weather and related programming.

Local Now is the largest local news streamer in the country with the most robust local channels available, and its mission is to ensure viewers have instant access to the news, weather, entertainment, sports and local content that matter most to them,” said Byron Allen, Founder/Chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group. “This partnership with Roku allows Local Now to fulfill our mission of delivering free, localized streaming content to their millions of subscribers.”

Earlier this week, Roku confirmed it ended the third quarter of 2024 with 85.5 million Streaming Households. As part of the same announcement, Roku confirmed streaming hours of The Roku Channel increased 80% YoY.
