Roku ended the third quarter of 2024 with 85.5 million Streaming Households. The latest number represents an increase on both the previous quarter and previous year.
As Roku closed out the second quarter of the year with 83.6 million, the company added 1.9 million Streaming Households during the most recent quarter. Likewise with 75.8 million reported for the third quarter of 2023, the company added almost 10 million over the past twelve months.
A similar pattern was in effect for Streaming Hours. Roku closed out the most recent quarter with 32 billion streaming hours, resulting in an increase of almost 2 billion on the 30.1 billion reported for the previous quarter. The 32 billion also represented an increase of 5.3 billion when compared to the third quarter of the previous year.
According to Roku, The Roku Channel was the number 3 app on the Roku platform by both reach and engagement in the third quarter, with Streaming Hours up 80% YoY.
The increase in Streaming Households and Hours also helped Roku generate a total of $908 million in Platform revenue during the third quarter, an increase of 15% on the previous year. With another 150 million in Devices revenue during the three-month period, Roku ended the third quarter of 2024 with a total net revenue of $1.062 billion, a 16% increase on the previous year.
On the topic of devices, Roku released the Roku Ultra (2024) last month. The latest version of the company’s most powerful streaming player mostly benefits from the use of a faster processor and the bundling of the Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition).
