YouTube TV and TelevisaUnivision have agreed a new multi-year distribution deal, bringing an end to a dispute that resulted in Univision being removed from the live TV service.

  • After nearly two months off the platform, Univision is returning to YouTube TV under a new multi‑year deal.
  • The agreement goes beyond renewal, adding ViX to YouTube’s Primetime Channels and extending Primetime Channels access to users in Mexico for the first time.
  • The new deal not only ends a contentious standoff between YouTube and TelevisaUnivision, but also provides users with greater access to Hispanic‑focused content than before.

Univision was officially removed from the YouTube TV lineup on October 1st, so subscribers have been without access to the channel for almost two months now.

With a new deal now in place, YouTube TV subscribers are regaining access to Univision. The new deal also covers the likes of UniMás, TUDN, and Galavisión, all of which will be available both through YouTube TV’s Base Plan and Spanish Plan.

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement that restores Univision to YouTube TV, ensuring millions of Hispanics can access the news, sports, and entertainment they care about and have relied on for over 70 years,” said Daniel Alegre, CEO of TelevisaUnivision.

The new distribution agreement doesn’t just renew the previous terms, but acts as an expansion as well. For example, ViX is now set to become available through YouTube’s Primetime Channels service.

As an extension of this, the new agreement will also, for the first time, see YouTube’s Primetime Channels service becoming available to users in Mexico.

“This agreement recognizes the essential role that our content plays in the daily lives of our viewers, as we fulfill our mission of reflecting the voice of Hispanics. We look forward to serving YouTube TV subscribers again,” added Alegre.

The agreement brings to an end a dispute that had previously become quite contentious. TelevisaUnivision’s CEO previously accused YouTube of “abusing market power” and referred to the removal of the channels as “deeply insensitive and offensive.”

Although it did take significantly longer for the two sides to reach an agreement than it did with NBCU and YouTube, who YouTube TV was in the midst of a dispute with at the same time, YouTube will now offer even greater access to TelevisaUnivision’s content than even before.
