  • Starz added 110,000 U.S. streaming subscribers in Q3, but overall U.S. subscriber numbers declined due to continued losses in linear TV.
  • Though still down year-over-year, Canada saw a quarterly subscriber rebound to 1.74 million, thanks to the conclusion of a dispute.
  • Overall, Starz ended Q3 with 19.2 million total subscribers, up 120,000 from Q2 but down 950,000 compared to the third quarter in 2024.

With Starz having ended the third quarter with 12.29 million U.S. OTT subscribers, and 12.18 million reported for the quarter before, the streaming service managed to add around 110,000 during the most-recent three-month period.

When factoring in the 5.17 million linear customers reported, Starz ended the third quarter with a total of 17.46 million subscribers in the U.S.

Considering the company reported 17.59 million for the second quarter of the year, Starz lost around 130,000 subscribers during the most recent quarter.

On a year-over-year basis, the 17.46 million U.S. subscribers represented a loss of around 370,000 subscribers on the 17.83 million reported for the third quarter of 2024.

In Canada, Starz ended the quarter with 680,000 streaming subscribers and 1,060,000 linear customers for a total of 1.74 million. This was an increase on the 1.49 million (680,00 OTT and 810,000 linear) Canada Subscribers reported for the previous quarter.

According to Starz, the Canada increase was primarily the result of the resolution of a dispute and the reinstatement of subscribers that had previously been removed from the service’s subscriber count.

In spite of the increase in Canada, the 1.74 million represented a decline on the 2.32 million subscribers reported for the third quarter of last year.

Overall, Starz ended the third quarter of 2025 with a total of 19.2 million subscribers, broken down to include 12.97 million streaming subscribers and 6.23 million linear customers.

Thanks to the 110,000 increase in U.S. streaming subscribers, and the addition of 250,000 Canada subscribers, Starz closed the most recent quarter with 120,000 more subscribers than the previous quarter.

However, with combined year-over-year losses for both U.S. and Canada subscribers, Starz lost around 950,000 subscribers when compared to the 20.15 million reported for the third quarter of 2024.
