DirecTV‘s latest ad campaign is now here, and designed to inform sports fans that it offers a one-stop streaming solution for watching football. With the regular season scheduled to begin in September, sports fans can expect to see the new ad campaign in full effect over the coming weeks.
What You Need to Know
- DirecTV launched a new football‑focused ad campaign featuring Saquon Barkley to promote its all‑in‑one viewing experience.
- The campaign highlights how DirecTV can simplify finding and streaming football games across apps and live channels.
- Despite the simplicity message, DirecTV’s own mix of satellite, streaming packages, and add‑ons can be confusing for users.
Similar to DirecTV’s past ad campaigns, the company has brought in some celebrity help with its latest one. This time the help comes from football’s very own Saquon Barkley, running back for the Philadelphia Eagles.
As part of the campaign, Barkley can be seen attempting to navigate increasingly difficult hurdles, with the message designed to resonate with sports fans who find it increasingly harder to stream football all in one place.
“Football fans shouldn’t have to navigate an obstacle course just to watch games,” said Vince Torres, chief marketing officer at DirecTV. “For more than 30 years, DirecTV has been the home of football, and we’ve stayed focused on making the game easier to find and easier to enjoy, even as the viewing experience has become more complex. By bringing together live games, streaming apps, and everything fans want in one seamless experience, we’re removing the hurdles so fans can spend less time searching and more time watching.”
The new ‘obstacle course’ ad campaign featuring Barkley will be visible across a variety of platforms and verticals, including 30-second and 15-second television spots, digital video, social media, and online advertising.
While DirecTV makes the case that it is a simplified way to stream football during the upcoming season, DirecTV in itself can be quite complicated to navigate.
For example, DirecTV offers both satellite and satellite-free live TV packages. On the streaming side specifically, the service also offers a variety of main Signature Packages to choose between, as well as a selection of cheaper Genre Packs.
So while DirecTV can be a good way to stream football, how effective and simplified the experience will be often depends on the package chosen and bundled premium subscriptions.
