AMC+ subscribers can expect access to a new and improved app experience later this month. While the app upgrade will offer new features and improvements, it will coincide with a slimming down of the AMC+ library.
What You Need to Know
- AMC+ is launching an upgraded app later this month with features like user profiles and an improved video player.
- As part of the new experience, a large selection of Shudder and Sundance Now titles will be removed.
- Account features will be frozen during launch, temporarily limiting the ability to reset passwords or immediately cancel a subscription.
The current AMC+ experience does sometimes feel like it lags behind the competition. In our recently updated review, for example, we noted how the app on some devices is often slow to respond, resulting in a loading delay on each click.
For those that also feel like the app could be better, a new and improved version will begin rolling out to all AMC+ subscribers later this month.
According to AMC, the new app will offer a much improved experience, including an enhanced video player and new features like customized user profiles.
AMC+ has begun advising existing subscribers of the changes via email.
“We’re bringing some important updates and enhancements to your AMC+ experience. Later this month, you’ll have access to an improved app with new features like customized user profiles, an enhanced video player, and a curated experience that makes it easier to find what you want to watch,” the email reads.
In terms of that “curated experience that makes it easier to find what you want to watch,” it seems this is another way of explaining that the AMC+ library is being slimmed down.
As part of the new app launch and experience, a large selection of Shudder and Sundance Now content is set to be removed from the AMC+ library.
The launch of the new app and the removal of content is due to take effect on November 18, 2026. Annual AMC+ subscribers will continue to have full access to the Shudder and Sundance Now libraries until the end of their current billing cycle.
As part of the upgrade process, AMC has confirmed the following account-management features will be unavailable between November 16 and November 18, 2026.
- Password Resets: You will not be able to reset your password and AMC+’s support team won’t be able to reset passwords.
- Cancellation Requests: If you signed up via the website and cancel during this period, cancellations will be processed once the transition is complete.
- My List, Downloads & Continue Watching: You won’t be able to add or remove titles from your watchlist or download content.
While cancellations will be unavailable during this brief period, AMC did confirm billing will also be paused during this time. Basically, subscribers won’t be charged while their cancellation request remains pending.
