Amazon Lowers Streaming Player Cost With Fire TV Stick Lite

Amazon has now lowered the entry price for its Fire TV line of devices and players, thanks to the all-new Fire TV Stick Lite.

Amazon has always been aware of the price sensitivity of devices and as a result, the company’s products have always been competitively priced. Furthermore, they can also often be picked up at even lower prices when Amazon hosts its various annual sales, such as Prime Day.

However, at $29.99, the new Fire TV Stick Lite is now one of the cheapest options to get involved with streaming. Similar to the other Fire TV products, the Fire TV Stick Lite provides access to the same experience and interface, as well as FHD, HDR support, and an Alexa voice-enabled remote. In fact, Amazon states the new Lite version is actually 50-percent more powerful than the previous non-Lite version.

The new Fire TV Stick Lite is due to go on sale on September 30 in multiple countries, including the U.S. However, it is already available to pre-order from Amazon.

The price of streaming lowered

With Amazon now in the process of adding this new device, the cost of buying an entry-level device has dropped even more. Roku already offers a streaming player at this exact price point, but the Roku Express is unlikely to be as powerful as Amazon’s latest addition. Amazon even makes this point by explicitly stating the Fire TV Stick Lite “includes the most processing power of any streaming media player under $30.”

For those less interested in the Lite version, Amazon also announced a new standard Fire TV Stick as well. Priced at $39.99, the new model has the same playback resolution cap as the Lite model, but benefits from volume controls on the remote, as well as Dolby Atmos Audio, instead of the pass-through HDMI-only Dolby Audio offered with the Fire TV Stick Lite.

Similar to the Lite, the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote is due to go on sale on September 30, but is already available to pre-order from Amazon.
