Crunchyroll has increased the price of its Ultimate Fan and Mega Fan tiers. In addition to the higher cost, the anime streaming service also confirmed that it has now lowered the length of its free trial from fourteen days down to seven. Both changes have already taken effect, so any new subscribers now signing up to the streaming service will pay the higher rates after the shorter free trial.

In terms of the price, the Mega Fan tier now costs $11.99/month (up $2 from $9.99/month) and the Ultimate Fan tier now costs $15.99 a month (up $1 from $14.99/month). The cheapest Fan tier is unaffected by this change and remains priced at $7.99 a month.

In addition to the United States, Crunchyroll has also confirmed that the price of Ultimate Fan and Mega Fan are also increasing in other countries, including Argentina, Colombia, France and Portugal.

In the United States, it looks like the service has made some other changes to the benefits of a subscription as well. For example, while Mega Fan subscribers enjoyed $15 off $100+ purchases in the Crunchyroll Store every 3 months, the subscription now only offers 10% off select products, although the three month restriction seems to have been removed.

A similar change affects the Ultimate Fan tier, with subscribers now getting 15% off select products instead of the $25 off $100+ purchases (every three months) they were getting before.

Crunchyroll did take the opportunity to explain that this is the first time it has increased the price since 2019, which is not bad considering the rate other streaming services have increased in recent years. Peacock, for example, just announced a price increase of its own, following the rolling out of a similar price increase just last year.

Earlier this month, Crunchyroll announced it was adding multiple profiles, making it possible for users to create their own accounts instead of sharing the same one.
