DirecTV Prices to Increase in October, and by a Lot for Some Customers

DirecTV has confirmed its next price increase will take effect next month, but has yet to confirm exactly how much its prices will increase by.

The price increase kicks in on October 5th, and could increase the cost by more than $10 for some customers. However, how much the price of any specific DirecTV package will increase by currently remains unknown.

While streaming services usually announce how much their prices are increasing by, DirecTV has opted not to do that this time. Instead, DirecTV currently requires each existing subscriber to sign in to their account to find out how much their price will increase.

Although DirecTV has not confirmed the exact amounts, we are seeing multiple users report that their prices are increasing, and by as much as $11 for the worst affected. For some customers, the increase could be even more, depending on their package, as various add-ons are also set to increase in price at the same time.

While currently unavailable, we do expect to gain access to exact pricing information soon. As these increases are expected to apply to new as well as existing customers, the DirecTV website is expected to be updated in due course with the new pricing.

Regardless of the amount, the latest price increases are a direct result of its own increasing costs, according to DirecTV.

DirecTV last increased in price in October of last year. At that time, the cheapest package (Entertainment) increased by $7 a month to $86.99.

Technically, the cost of DirecTV Stream was lowered to $84.99 a month when the service was rebranded as DirecTV. However, that cheaper price only lasted a couple of months, with the latest increase now set to take effect in the coming weeks.

Since the start of 2023, DirecTV Stream had already encountered three price increases, with those arriving in January 2023, November 2023 and October 2024. Once the latest price increase takes effect, the total number of price hikes will be four since the beginning of 2023.

DirecTV has also introduced its Genre Packs since then. These packages allow consumers to sign up to a themed live TV plan at a cheaper price than the service’s Signature Packages.

Of course, that won’t matter much to those currently signed up to a Signature Package, and especially considering they are likely to be paying one of the highest prices around within a matter of weeks.
