DirecTV has opted to remove Channel 104 (Entertainment 4K) from its lineup. It currently remains unclear why the 4K channel has been dropped, but it was removed this month. As for as Streaming Better understands, the channel was officially removed on March 1st, 2025.
Channel 104 first launched back in 2023, and as DirecTV’s first 4K channel. Initially only available on DirecTV’s own players and devices, availability of the channel quickly expanded to more devices, including Apple TV players, Roku devices, and Amazon Fire TV devices between June and July 2023.
Eventually, the channel became widely available across DirecTV’s supported platforms and devices.
Less than two years later and the channel has now been removed again. This is the only 4K that has been removed, with the others (Channel 105 and Channel 106) still available.
Launched soon after Channel 104, Channel 105 and 106 are primarily reserved for live sports events. As a result, and although there are still some 4K channels available, it remains unclear whether DirecTV plans to relocate some of its 4K entertainment programming (including shows, original series, and documentaries) over to these channels, or whether entertainment in 4K is now taking a back seat in general.
Either way, DirecTV and DirecTV Stream subscribers wondering where Channel 104 has gone, its disappearance isn’t an accident, and the channel was intentionally removed from the lineup.
For reference, Channel 107 and 108 also remain available, and continue to host a variety of on-demand Pay Per View movies in 4K.
