Frndly TV now has more than 700,000 subscribers, a first for the live TV streaming service. With plans starting at just $6.99 per month, Frndly TV is a highly affordable option compared to other live TV streaming services. Unsurprisingly, it would seem that the low price has been one of the major driving forces in helping Frndly TV attract new users in 2022, while also maintaining its existing subscriber base.
Frndly TV is a relatively new live TV service, considering it first started offering access to live TV in October of 2019. Since then, however, the service has continually expanded to offer a richer product. For example, compared to the 12 channels Frndly TV offered at launch, a subscription now unlocks access to more than 40 channels. At the same time, the price of a subscription has only increased once, and by $1. As many subscribers to other services will be accurately aware of, the cost of live TV has increased significantly across most services since 2019.
Through the combination of an expanded channel lineup and a cheaper monthly price, the number of Frndly TV subscribers continues to grow. In a press release, Frndly TV confirmed that the number now stands at more than 700,000, an increase of roughly 200,000 subscribers over the course of the last year alone.
Frndly TV also says that 2022 resulted in a 10% increase in engagement per subscriber, a 33% increase in reactivations, and a 22% increase in the number of annual subscriptions. The ability to sign up an annual plan is actually something somewhat unique to Frndly TV, considering other live TV streaming services only typically provide the option to sign up on a monthly basis.
With more than 5 million subscribers, YouTube TV is largely considered to be the leader in the live TV streaming space right now. This is followed by Hulu Live TV with more than 4 million, and Sling TV with more than 2 million. fuboTV continues to hover around the one million mark while updated subscriber numbers for DirecTV Stream remain unknown. With more than 700,000 subscribers to its name, Frndly TV is proving it can hold its own within a highly competitive space.
