Fubo ended the first quarter of 2025 with 1.47 million paid subscribers in North America. This represents a decrease on the 1.7 million subscribers reported for the end of 2024, and the 1.5 million subscribers reported for the end of the first quarter of last year.
Fubo typically experiences ups and downs on a quarterly basis, due to the seasonality of sports, so the decline is not all that surprising. In fact, as the company previously predicted it would end this quarter with between 1.43 million and 1.46 million North American subscribers, the actual number reported for Q1 2025 is slightly higher than expected.
Looking forward, Fubo is projecting the North American subscriber base will decline again, with the expectation that the company will end the second quarter of 2025 with between 1.225 million and 1.255 million paid subscribers.
“Fubo’s first quarter 2025 performance demonstrates the company’s resilience and focus amid market turbulence, particularly as we strive towards our profitability goal this year,” said David Gandler, co-founder and CEO, Fubo. “Fubo fights for consumers every day, and we believe that our content aggregation and innovative user experience provide an attractive solution, particularly for the ardent sports fan.”
In terms of the rest of the world, Fubo closed out the first quarter of 2025 with 354,000 paid ROW subscribers. Again, this was down on the 362,000 paid subscribers Fubo ended last year with, and the 397,000 ROW subscribers the company reported for the first quarter of 2024.
Similar to the North American subscriber base, Fubo previously expected to end the most recent quarter with between 330,000 and 340,000 subscribers, making the confirmed 354,000 subscribers higher than expectations.
According to Fubo, its ROW number now includes Molotov, the French live TV streaming service Fubo acquired in December 2021.
Also similar to North America, Fubo is projecting another decline in ROW subscribers during the second quarter of the year, with the company expecting to finish the current quarter with between 325,000 and 335,000 paid subscribers.
In terms of revenue, Fubo reported a total North America revenue of $407.9 million for the first quarter, up 3.5% year-over-year. This was in addition to a total ROW revenue of $8.4 million for the quarter, down 0.4% year-over-year.
