Nexstar Media Group has confirmed another five of its stations are set to become CW Network affiliates later this year. Once switched over, all five stations will carry CW programming, including live sports.
The five stations are WJBF in Augusta, Georgia; KARD in Monroe, Louisiana; KFDX in Wichita Falls, Texas; WTWO DMA in Terre Haute, Indiana; and WFXV in Utica, New York. These stations are set to make the switch to CW affiliates in September and October.
“The addition of these affiliates will bring the number of Nexstar- and partner-owned CW stations to 54, covering more than 45% of U.S. TV Households,” said Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division.
Last month, Nexstar confirmed new CW Network affiliates in Tucson, Santa Barbara And Corpus Christi. The company has also recently agreed a new deal with Gray Media that ensures viewers of 38 Gray-owned television stations will continue to have access to CW programming. In a separate agreement last month, Nexstar and Paramount Global renewed CBS affiliates In 42 markets.
In terms of content, The CW has been on quite a live sports expansion over the past year, agreeing new deals for Pac-12 football games, WWE NXT, and NASCAR Xfinity series racing. All of which is now expected to become available to watch on the latest batch of CW affiliates when they go live later this year.
