Paramount Plus launched in the US in March 2021 and is now celebrating its first birthday with a promotion that dramatically reduces the cost of a subscription for a limited time. Deals like this can be a good way to test out a service before making a long-term commitment, or just a good way to catch up on popular shows without having to pay the full amount.

Paramount Plus brings together videos from a variety of popular networks including CBS, Comedy Central, MTV and, of course, Paramount Network. A subscription is needed to access the service and consumers can choose between the Essential and Premium plans. There are a number of differences between these two plans including the price, with the Essential plan costing $4.99 per month and the Premium plan priced at $9.99 per month.

For those currently considering giving Paramount Plus a try, new subscribers can now sign up to the Essential plan for only $1 per month. If more interested in the best experience possible, the Premium plan is currently just $2 per month. These are significant discounts on the cost of a subscription, and the promotion can be accessed directly through the Paramount+ website by clicking on the ‘Try it Now’ button and signing up as normal. If the price doesn’t drop to the lower rate, the “Birthday” promo code can be used to manually reduce the cost.

As to be expected, there are some caveats to this promotion. The first is that the discount is only available up until March 7th, 2022. The second is that the price drop only applies to the first three months. In other words, once the three-month period has come to an end, subscribers will automatically be charged the usual higher rate unless they cancel the subscription before the end of the third month. Depending on the plan chosen, this could result in being charged as much as $9.99 for the fourth month.

For reference, Paramount+ does also offer annual plans. Signing up to these yearly subscriptions also reduces the cost compared to paying monthly and existing subscribers can quickly and easily switch from a monthly to a yearly plan through their account’s settings menu. For those that are sure they will remain subscribed to Paramount Plus for a full year, this could be an additional way to save on the cost if the switch is made in the final month and before the price changes to the higher monthly amount.
