Peacock is now offering subscribers a selection of streaming add-ons that unlock access to in-market feeds of select NBC regional sports networks. This marks a major move by the streaming service to expand its sports content.

Peacock was already a big player in the sports market, with the service providing access to a variety of live sports leagues and events, including English Premier League, the Olympics, and more. This is in addition to access to a subscriber’s local NBC station for those signed up to the ad-free Premium Plus plan.

Now, however, Peacock Premium and Premium Plus subscribers in select areas have the option to sign up to their in-market NBC regional sports service. At launch, Peacock only offers in-market add-on subscriptions for NBC Sports Bay Area at $17.95 per month, NBC Sports Boston at $14.95 per month, NBC Sports California at $17.95 a month, and NBC Sports Philadelphia at $24.95 a month.

Although these prices significantly increase the cost of a Peacock subscription, this can be a good way for sports fans to watch their favorite teams without having to also pay for a live TV package.

For example, NBC Sports Bay Area has access to San Francisco Giants, Warriors, Sharks, NBC Sports Boston provides access to Boston Celtics, NBC Sports California unlocks access to Sacramento Kings, San Jose Sharks and Athletics, and NBC Sports Philadelphia includes access to Philadelphia 76ers, Flyers and Phillies.

On top of the live MLB, NBA and/or NHL games, these RSNs also provide access to additional pre- and post-game coverage, as well as other shows about the region’s athletes, teams and sports.

As to be expected, Peacock subscribers must be located within the territory of the respective RSN to watch its regional sports coverage.

In addition, as is typically the case with in-market services and plans in general, subscribers to any of Peacock’s NBC Sports add-ons may still encounter blackouts for certain games, due to broadcast and league commitments.
