Philo is now offering everyone the option to watch its selection of FAST channels without having to pay for the base plan. Philo has been slowly building out its FAST catalog in recent years, with more than 70 live channels now available through the free tier.
While the selection of free channels won’t compete with the 70+ channels included with the paid base plan, Philo’s free tier provides consumers with another way to watch live content without paying for a subscription.
Speaking of which, while Philo’s free tier doesn’t require a monthly payment, or a payment method to be on file, an account is still required. New users can sign up for a free account using an email address and immediately start streaming all of the free content through the website, or through the app on a supported device.
Along with streaming all the live channels, the free tier also unlocks access to more than 20,000 on-demand movies and shows. In addition, Philo is also providing free tier users with access to a 30-day DVR, making it possible to record movies, shows and more to watch at a later time.
For those that might be considering Philo’s paid plan, the company has confirmed that the price of its base package is increasing to $28 a month in June, which is $3 more than the current monthly price. However, subscribers paying the higher rate will also get access to the AMC+ ad-supported service as part of their base package.
