Sling TV closed out the first quarter of the year with 1.894 million subscribers. The latest subscriber update confirms a fairly major drop in subscribers over the first three months of the year.
With 1,894,000 subscribers as of March 31st, and around 2.1 million subscribers reported for the end of 2024, the live TV service lost 198,000 subscribers during the most recent quarter.
Considering Sling TV closed out the first quarter of 2024 with 1.92 million subscribers, the live TV service also lost around 26,000 subscribers on a year over year basis.
Similar to the previous quarter, EchoStar explained the most recent Sling TV subscriber losses as a result of lower Sling TV subscriber activations and the company’s “emphasis on acquiring higher quality subscribers.”

Along with providing an update on Sling TV, EchoStar also confirmed that it ended the quarter with 5.503 million Dish TV subscribers. Considering Dish TV ended 2024 with 5.69 million subscribers, Dish lost around 187,000 TV subscribers during the first three months of the year.
On a year-over-year basis, the number of Dish TV subscribers was down around 750,000 on the 6.258 million reported for the end of the first quarter of 2024.
Overall, EchoStar reported a total of 7.397 million Pay-TV subscribers in the United States. With both Dish TV and Sling TV having lost subscribers during the quarter, the 7.397 million was down on the 7.78 million reported for the end of 2024, and down on the 8.178 million reported for the end of the first quarter of 2024.
