Sling TV subscribers can watch beIN Sports and PlayKids for free this weekend as part of the company’s ongoing Freeview Weekends promotion. Over the past few weeks, Sling has been unlocking a number of premium networks making it possible for subscribers to watch content they would normally have to pay for. This weekend, Sling TV is making two premium add-ons available, beIN Sports for the adults and PlayKids for the kids.
A standard Sling TV subscription costs $35 per month for access to a preset number of channels. Exactly how many and which channels a subscriber gets will depend on whether they opt for the Sling Orange or the Sling Blue plan. Regardless, Sling TV also offers a number of additional add-ons which can improve the channel selection, albeit at an additional cost each month.
PlayKids is one such add-on that can be bundled with any of the base Sling TV plans for an additional $5 per month. However, over this weekend, subscribers can watch PlayKids for free. The add-on will be unlocked from Friday, Aug. 5 and will remain accessible through Sunday, Aug. 7. For those that find they like having access to the add-on, they can then add it to their package through the Account section.
For the adults in the home, Sling is also unlocking beIN Sports for free for the weekend. beIN Sports normally costs an additional $10 each month and is made available through the Sports Extra add-on. In addition to beIN Sports, the Sports Extra add-on adds another 10+ sports channels to a base plan, so subscribers will be getting much more than beIN Sports if they opt to subscribe to Sports Extra after the free weekend.
Regardless of which of these add-ons appeal more to an individual home, the free preview not only unlocks access to the live channels, but also all of the on-demand content as well. Furthermore, subscribers don’t have to do anything to enable the free preview with Sling TV unlocking access on its end. For those new to Sling TV, signing up before or during the weekend will also unlock access to the free previews of beIN Sports and PlayKids.
